South Melbourne Districts Senior Football Club

Comacon selected the South Melbourne Districts Senior Football Club, “The Bloods,” as the recipient of our 2023 Wellbeing sponsorship program. We are inspired by the Club’s core values which are creating an inclusive and supportive environment for people in the community to learn and play sports together.

South Melbourne Districts Senior Football Club is a local community sports club giving young people, and adults opportunities to participate in sports while developing athletic and other life skills through the Club’s programs. Operating since1912, the Senior Football Club has upheld its main purpose of encouraging sports participation and building friendships with people in the community. This includes the addition of the senior women’s program, which has significantly added to the culture and the future success of the club.  

The wellbeing program at South Melbourne Districts Senior Football Club aims to support the wellness of all players, coaches, staff, and volunteers. The program provides a safe and inclusive space for women in the community who face challenges participating in sports, including women from culturally diverse backgrounds.

Their program includes:

- Providing training with external wellness providers;

- Organising Club events and activities to support mental and physical health;

- Promoting sports and inclusive participation to the local community.  

Comacon’s sponsorship enables the Club to engage external resources and create more programs for the community. The Club will utilise this sponsorship to provide broader support to community players, coaches, staff, and volunteers. This program supports women to build self-esteem, empower each other, strengthen career connections, and establish a healthy mind and body. Comacon is delighted to support the South Melbourne Districts Senior Football Club as it delivers impactful wellbeing programs to the community through the love of sports.
